Three million American kids suffer from abuse and neglect each year. And for 1,500 of them, it’s fatal. For those who manage to survive, barely a third muster the courage to report it to authorities. Broken homes, abusive caretakers, drug addiction, and juvenile delinquency don’t discriminate.

All can strike children without warning or regard for age or background. And when law-enforcement, local schools, and behavioral counselors alone can’t overcome these problems, where can those most at risk turn?

SAVIORS is a dramatic true life series that reveals, moment-by-moment, the struggles of at-risk youth surviving one day at a time. A tight-knit and dedicated group of assistance dog trainers— men and women immersed 24/7 in their specialized work —not only help protect, nurture, and heal damaged children, but also bring relief to their disabled clients.

Each adolescent is handpicked for assistance dog training. Some kids won’t make it. But for the kids who manage to hang in there, they begin to heal themselves and find another side to life they perhaps never knew existed. In the end, the kids who were once damaged help more than themselves.

Eventually, they are transformed by training clients with overwhelming needs– clients who will ultimately adopt the dogs that the kids have come to know and love.
